August 18, 2025Walking My Why
By Nick Aitoro
There’s a difference between knowing your “why” and walking it.
Knowing is intellectual. It’s a statement on a page, a vision board, or a mission tucked into the “About Me” section of a profile. Walking it is lived—it’s the way you show up in rooms where no one knows your title, the decisions you make when no one is watching, and the courage you summon when the easiest choice would be silence.
Walking my why means I don’t just talk about my values—I align my actions, time, and energy with them.
It’s the steady rhythm of consistency, where my calendar reflects my priorities and my relationships reveal my commitments. It’s mentoring a young leader even when my plate is full, because I believe in the transformative power of guidance. It’s choosing integrity over convenience, even when the latter would get me to the finish line faster.
Over the years, my “why” has become less about milestones and more about moments.
The moment a team member finds their voice in a meeting.
The moment a setback becomes the catalyst for reinvention.
The moment someone realizes they are capable of more than they imagined—and chooses to step into it.
Walking my why isn’t always glamorous. It’s sometimes inconvenient, often humbling, and frequently tested. But every time I choose to act in alignment with it, I reinforce who I am and what I stand for.
Because in the end, purpose without action is just potential. And the world doesn’t change because we have potential—it changes because we walk it.
So, are you in alignment with your Why?
